In Masjid Haraam, can we keep our slippers close to us so that they are not stolen? ............................................................................ Answer: A mosque is a place of worship and it is emphatically stressed that one stays within the limits of propriety in a mosque. Specially, Masjid Haraam is the most superior of all mosques. Thus, a worshipper should be all the more respectful in it. To maintain one’s concentration and sincerity in Salaat and to save oneself from getting distracted, a worshipper can take his things inside the mosque. Even though keeping one’s footwear close is permissible, provided the mosque is not dirtied, still the worshipper should try to wear such shoes/slippers that their theft will not affect him. Especially, in Masjid Haraam, a Muslim goes there for a few days for Hajj or ‘Umrah. Instead of worrying about one’s slippers, etc., one should be more anxious of purifying one’s heart and to get away from sins.
