"In Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s view, National Day is probably better defined as the 48th year of separation from Malaysia, and in 2011 he was reportedly suggesting that Singapore was not yet a nation. Two years later, Singapore may not be a nation but still very much a migrant state. We do not really have a proper civilization called Singaporean, we do not have a real proper culture, and among many others we have a state with a recent survey that yielded that about 50% of Singaporeans may like to quit Singapore for elsewhere."
