In November 2013, Gambit Films’ Writer/Director Nosipho Dumisa was invited to participate in the Produire au Sud Script Studio Residency in Nantes, France for her first feature film, The Bill, currently in development with the National Film and Video Foundation. 3 South African directors were selected for the 9 day residency at the Durban Film Mart 2013, with the aim of the workshop to allow the directors an opportunity to benefit from script consultations with international experts such as Miguel Machaaski (Il Futuro [2013], Al Juma Al Akheira [2011]) and Gualberto Ferrari (Diaro para un cuento [1998]). 2013 marked the first Script Studio at the festival and it was an honour to be selected to be part of it. We thank everyone at the Festival des 3 Continents and the Durban Film Mart for the opportunity. The Bill is still currently in development.
