In Pakistan and India, there is misconception among Shias that Mawla Hadhrat Ali al-Akbar (A.S) ibn Imaam al-Hosayn (A.S) was 18 years old and he was younger than Imaam Sajjaad (A.S). this is totally false. According to narrations Ali al-Akbar (A.S) was 28 years old and he was older than Imaam Sajjaad (A.S). According to saheeh narrations Imaam Sajjaad was 23 years old at the time of battle of Karbalaa and Ali al-Akbar (A.S) was 28 years old. the name also confirms this fact that Ali al-Akbar was eldest son. Akbar means oldest/greatest. Imaam Sajjaad (A.S) name was Ali al-Awsat. Aswat means Middle one.
