In Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, sitting by the pool with a cold beer - life doesn’t get much better than this! We started our tour in Johannesburg and had a long drive to the Northern part of the Kruger Park where we got used to camp life and spotted lots of wildlife, including a leopard which was exciting. We had an eventful border crossing including getting caught in a massive scrum of humanity – but we all survived unscathed! Zimbabwe is an amazing country, beautiful, friendly and functioning efficiently using American Dollars as its currency. We have been to: the fascinating Great Zimbabwe ruins; beautiful Motopas where we camped at the top of a hill with a stupendous view and tracked Rhino on foot; Hwange National Park where we saw hundreds of Elephants, a lion and lots of other interesting mammals and birds and yesterday to the absolutely awesome Victoria Falls. Our guide is Zimbabwean and a really great guy, an excellent guide and a good cook as well so we’re being well looked after. Most mornings we get up at 5 and pack up camp ready for the next adventure but had a welcome lie-in today. The group is mainly Germans -5 of them- but we’re getting on OK! also one Spanish lady with very little English and an Aussie couple who are even older than we are. This afternoon we’re taking a helicopter ride over The Falls then tomorrow off to Botswana. Unlikely to be on line again until we get back to Joburg, so hoping family and friends are well.
