In Zimbodia, the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed - TopicsExpress

In Zimbodia, the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces summoned a world press conference to announce that he had had enough of the squabbling between the “Big Four” firms of Chartered Accountants and the rest. To deal with what His Excellency described as: “The Terrorism of Profit and Loss” Henceforth accountancy would be placed under a curfew – from 7pm to 7am. Anyone caught practising accountancy during those hours would be deemed a “terrorist”. A Joint Task Force – consisting of the Army, (gentlemen of) the Navy and the Air Force had been given orders to shoot any terrorist on sight. Chartered Accountants beware!! In 1972, when Field Marshall Idi Amin was president of Uganda he gave the “Big Four” (then the “Big Eight) firms of Chartered Accountants which were largely dominated with Indian partners to the exclusion of Ugandans, only seventy-two hours to leave Uganda. Regardless, the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbodia has been protesting vehemently on CNN’s “Market Place Africa” programme sponsored by Zenith Bank Plc (“In Your Own Interest”): “The issue is not just about money. It is about life and death. What is at stake for local chartered accountants are their human rights or to put it differently, their right to earn a living by practising their profession without let or hindrance. They are entitled to protest that they are being stolen blind. Thankfully, in Nigeria even the blind know when they are being stolen blind!! FrontPage headline: “The Punch” newspaper (August 28 2013)
