In a civilisation where even Ravan could impress Shiva with his austerities and ask for Parvati as a gift , what is the big deal about evil getting power . It is an endlessly repeating story-line . Ravana and Kans come first , avatars come later . That is the nature of power . The alternative always emerges after power corrupts . If humans had the ability to be pre-emptive about managing power and its misuse , we would never need heros . The so-called danavs, rakshasas and asuras are as , if not more powerful than the devatas and heros . So it is great if the decaying fall away . Even if it leads to chaos . That will force the devatas to come together and seek the blessings of the Goddess or the Wise ones . Devatas are as prone to stupidity and arrogance as the Asuras .
