In a few days I will be 44 years old and 19 years HIV positive. I cannot help but think that I NEVER thought I would live to this age. When I was diagnose many years ago, the only person I knew that was HIV positive died shortly after from an agonizing death. I thought that this is what the cards had for me. I too would be dead within a few years and suffer horribly. I lived my life on that belief and suffered for it. I made myself ill emotionally, spiritually, and physically. However 19 years later I am turning 44 years old and am at the happiest and healthiest point in my life. I have direction in my life and am pursing MY dreams. I have someone in my life I truly adore that treats me with respect, dignity, and love, and know that whatever tomorrow brings I CAN overcome it. I have the strength, the hope, and the power to be ANYTHING I want to be. I know that I will not be that crippled man I expected to be but that POWERFUL, STRONG, AMAZING human being I was born to be! :) :) :)
