In a world that praises Frozen, Im still mesmerized by the quality - TopicsExpress

In a world that praises Frozen, Im still mesmerized by the quality of animation and storytelling in a movie that is nearly 20 years old. A movie that isnt a bloated box office hit that banks on style over substance. It has BOTH. It HITS those marks of what you would expect a good story to hit to make it something that is timeless and worth talking about for decades, and to discuss the themes with others who have watched it. Im talking about Princess Mononoke, my favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie, and one of my top favorite movies period. I really loved revisiting this cinematic masterpiece today with my brother. Its really more of an experience than most movies. For about the last week Ive been thinking about it a lot, and listening to the awesome musical soundtrack from it that can STILL bring me to tears by how many emotions it can express. Its narrative covers CONFLICT in general in a perfect way. Its a spiritual and environmental movie that doesnt paint anyone out to be the ultimate bad guy most do. It shows that people have good intentions, but often go about getting what they want in the wrong way, or in a way that creates a conflict of interest for another group of living beings, and even Nature. Its timeless for it because the strife the characters experience and the attitudes about how cruel the world can be is still relevant today. It captures the essence of all things that make the world beautiful as well through the visuals, the characters actions, dialogue, and the musical score. It covers a range of some of my favorite things to use in stories such as spirituality, the consequences of actions, the damage of hatred, the determination for a better world, the good and bad that can come from human nature, co-existence with animals and the importance for both life and death. Sometimes I forget how much this movie influences me as a storyteller, and how watching it can get me excited to work on the comic that covers some of the same topics found in Princess Mononoke. I can only hope that I can create something so wonderfully touching for others to enjoy and be inspired by. To give them hope that there is still a reason to keep fighting to live in a world that will treat you unfairly, with hostility and hatred. To show that there is more than one point of view, and that time should be taken to understand that yours is not the only one that exists. But I should probably stop this probably super biased fangirl rant and listen to this music a million times while I do some math and discuss the comic with Brittany. https://youtube/watch?v=8XOV2L-eM38
