In addition to quitting Facebook, Im now seriously considering closing my Twitter and Google+ accounts and letting go of social media altogether. I have about 32K followers on Twitter and 12K on G+, and I get thousands of hits to my website from those services each month, but a stats check revealed that the combined traffic I got from Twitter, G+, and Facebook in June was less than 0.1% of my total traffic. And much of that probably comes from other people sharing links on their accounts, not just from my accounts. So if I completely dropped all these services, and even if I completely killed off all traffic from them and lost some residual sharing ripples as well, the effect on my traffic and business would likely be negligible, especially since my work is uncopyrighted and gets shared liberally all over the place (its even getting translated into Chinese). I suspect the increased focus from not using any social media services would probably allow me to more than make up for the minor traffic loss. As far as decisions go, this one is beginning to resemble a no-brainer. Talk me into it, or talk me out of it. :)
