In case you missed it - here is the latest film from Desert Pea Media - released yesterday! In 2014 Roc West and I spent almost two months with the beautiful community of Maningrida NT with the support of our amazing sistas Valentina Brave - developing and creating stories about culture, community and country. The outcomes have been FOUR original songs and music videos, and also a documentary starring Victor Rostron and his family focusing on songline, country and the Djelk Ranger program that is running an epic and VITAL land management program across the Djelk Indigenous Protected Area. This song is the SECOND installment and features over 30 community members including Victor Rostron and The KK BAND Crusoe Gurdal (lead actor from the film Ten Canoes), The Stingray Sisters Noni La Kai-kai Eather)and a horde of local young people, artists, teachers and musicians. Maningrida NT is in Central Arnhem Land, and is one of the most remote, and culturally rich places on earth. This community maintains an unbroken connection to country and culture that is becoming increasingly unique in Australia. The country here, and the people and culture of Arnhem Land are very special and very important, not only to us here at DPM but to all of us. Please share this story, and keep your eyes on this space for the third installment WILDFIRE coming soon... SPECIAL thanks to the Maningrida people. Family TG. desertpeamedia
