In case you missed this article in our Dallas Homeless Chronicles, check it out. A MUST read on a PHENOMENAL woman... Rachel Guerra, Director of Paulines Pantry and Solomons Porch Kitchen Just about anyone who has served at Solomons Porch has met Rachel. She has such a heart to help others. We asked her to share a little about herself and how she came to be a part of The Lords Hands and Hearts Ministries... I started Paulines Pantry 4 years ago in honor of my deceased mother. Pastor John Starne had started a pantry and it consisted of one old rickety shelf and a few bags of beans, bags of rice and some cans. Not a lot coming in or a lot going out. One day I asked Pastor John if I could help out in one way or another. He smiled real big and said SURE The following week I dropped in at Urban Relics and there was a lot of things happening in the little room in the back. It had been emptied and a new floor was being installed. I asked Leann Starne Rice What is going on? She smiled and said This is your new pantry, What had I gotten myself into ? How was I going to gather enough food to fill the room ? I thought I was going to just organize the shelf Pastor John had started. Remember , I only had one rickety shelf to work with . With lots of prayer, things came together . My son signed me up for Facebook...wow, you can reach a lot of people that way! My brother, Robert, built some sturdy shelves. My friend, Ida, donated a refrigerator and a freezer. My friend Shelly is a coupon monster and she supplied hygiene products. The list goes on and on. Paulines Pantry has been truly blessed. In two weeks we had collected over 500.00 in cash and over 1000 items to stock our new shelves! We help those that are just coming out of The Bridge. We help those that are a little short on groceries till they receive their next allotment of food stamps. We even help some people that live in tents. We are here to help. We do not turn anyone away. We are here to bring The Lord back into peoples lives. Sometimes people only reach out to the Lord when they have hit rock bottom. Well... that is where we come in. We do not want anyone to hit rock bottom. We want to share the love of the Lord for all those who seek him before they hit rock bottom .He is there for all of us.... ALWAYS. You just have to look up and He is there.
