In comic book land and if you wait long enough every character you can think of comes back in one form or another. About 1966 or so (whenever Avengers 27 came out) my father had had ENOUGH of my obsession with colored pieces of sequential story telling and a small future fortune in Marvel comics hit the wastebasket as my heart broke. (This would be FAR from the first or last time my parents would crush the spirit--there are REASONS I stayed in the Air Force and RARELY returned tio New York--usually under a sense of guilt for being prodigal. In 1968 I began to sneak comics back into the house and a new character Marvel started up Captain Marvel--no relation to Shazam--caught my imagination. His arch villain was his commander Yon Rogg killed off in issue 18 in 1969 just before I entered the Air Force. Well guess who is back from the dead 44 years later in the current Captain Marvel series?? Now if only poor Sheila Whittier could come back from the dead--her death/suicide/murder--basically from old Tomb of Dracula series still chills the blood.
