In every field there is competition. Competition is based on comparison. In my line of work, I get compared to this or that stylist a lot. But people fail to understand that each of us is an individual, and we have our own aesthetic, creativity, knowledge and experiences. Unfortunately, you cant tell people what to think. My only recommendation is not to take those comparisons personally. Just do you, and keep improving yourself. Always remember: clients hire you because they like your work and because they know you are the right fit for them. If you notice, 90% people are NOT happy when compared to someone else with the notion of making them better. But, the same 90% are happy when compared to someone who is better than them and find it as a good thing. So, it is not comparing that is bad, but I believe (most) people dont take criticism well.
