In fairness, I have to admit that while not that timely nor inspiring, at least President Obama made an expression of calm for Ferguson and Black residents throughout major US cities. It may have had some impact if he suggested a peaceful march days after the results of the Grand Jury. That may have caused there to be few in the streets giving shelter for those prone to riot. The videos on FOX News didnt portray people depressed about the reaction to the Grand Jury decision. They appeared to be fired up about having another opportunity to break into, steal from and set afire businesses in the area. The whole concept is as ridiculous as it could be. None of that will bring back Michael Brown and it will not improve public opinion of black people or their opinion of, a lack of equal justice. Had those rioting and looting been primarily white people the police would have been far more aggressive. I have black friends who were patiently waiting for the decision of the Grand Jury. Aside from the victims immediate family, their attorney and friends there seemed to be no doubt that there would be a kind of exhaustive scrutiny toward this incident, from the City of Ferguson, the State of Missouri as well as the Federal Government. With three autopsies, we were assured that every stone would be turned to be sure that a fair and impartial decision would be reached. Obviously nothing; but, the scalp of a white cop would satisfy their desire for revenge. I think some of the reaction in Ferguson tonight was caused by riot baiters, planted there to react violently regardless of the decision. Others were there to see what was going on and still others to take advantage by looting the businesses. I thank GOD that the people in my life do not work for inner city police departments, that they dont live in inner cities that may react as those did in Ferguson, Los Angeles, Detroit, NYC and others. I am particularly proud that Cleveland Ohio remained calm. I agree that race relations have a way to go. I also believe they are not as good as they were prior to Obama, and that the economy has been especially hard on Black America. Now with millions of illegal immigrants being given work permits, many jobs previously available in inner city areas will soon be shared with those Obama now-legals. Black America might find more opportunity by trying Republican policies, those that will provide a path toward self reliance and financial opportunity that the Democratic Party hasnt afforded them and will not be offering. Again, those who demonstrated with and supported those who rioted, did themselves and Black America a huge disservice. That would not prove the desire of Black Americans to receive investments into their neighborhoods, creating jobs. In fact, just the opposite.
