In my lifetime I have loved two men with a kind of love that words can not describe:My father, Carl Shaw, and my husband, JimBud Blakeney. Ironically, I lost them both to cancer. With the loss of both of these men, I have realized the importance of living a life that gives credence to the expression, They lived a godly life. Last night it dawned on me that the lives of my dad and Bud had come full circle. Natchez,MS, was my dads hometown and the place where he died.Bud and I were living on the campus of Adams County Christian School in Natchez when I got the news that my dad had lost his battle with cancer.Last night I watched as the boys of ACCS, now grown men, huddled, prayed, and scattered Buds ashes on the football field. I turned and looked up the hill where we were living when Dad died, and it felt like the spirits of both of these godly men had just combined and wrapped their arms around me. Both of these men had left a large part of their heart and soul in Natchez. Both men had left behind a legacy of godly influence that still continues in the lives of the people they touched. I left last night, feeling so thankful that God had blessed my life by gifting me with the love of these two men.Speaking of circles, the wide, gold wedding band that I have worn for the last 49 years belonged to my dads beloved, Natchez grandmother. Ever since I was a little girl he had tried that ring on my finger just waiting for the right guy to come along so he could give it to him to place on my finger.Well, the right guy did come along , and he was just like Dad.
