In my mind, knowing about the tunnels in Gaza, I kept trying to come up with the words to describe what they are as a reality, as a necessity, as a frightening symbol of a world gone mad: This phrase caught it exactly: Now when we push the Palestinian people from their land into underground tunnels, forcing them into the position of the living dead,.. To carry on commerce (as well as stock up on weaponry), to feed the population, obtain medical supplies, etc. the Gazans have built miles and miles of underground tunnels. Its more bizarre than any screen writer could come up with - the existence of the living dead.
