In the 1960s, Prof. Muhammad Haji Salleh was part of the first generation of Malaysian writers writing in English. He is a poet, literary scholar and translator, adept at writing in Malay and English. His poem, si tenggangs homecoming was included in the Malaysian secondary school syllabus for English Language. We met him for an interview on Tuesday and will introduce his poems in our presentation at the School of English, Media Studies and Art History, University of Queensland this month.
