In the last few days I have been told that the press read this Facebook page and often quote what I am saying…………...so if you see the words “ Bugger. Underpants or Oh FFS “ in a banner headline in The US Today Times Of New Boston Chronicle” then you will know where they got them from. It was actually quite flattering when the PR people told me this and it was also flattering when I received an e mail last Monday from a Cruise Director who works for …………….well let’s just say it’s not a CCL company . His e mail to me included this “ do you recommend I do this John because it has been a huge success for you but how much of your time does it take up and the big question is it worth all that time? So his question then is that he wants to start a public page where he will invite his guests or passenger’s as they are known there I guess onto his page and answer questions and help people post his personal and I guess company news. The cruise line he works for is encouraging him to do this he said so what did I tell him in my reply. I told him flat out he should do it. I advised that he write from the heart about the good the bad, the ugly and the French and, if he did that, his passengers. Once they do, many will stay. He will acquire regulars. You’ll get to know them. If they stay away for a while, he will miss them. He will feel somehow responsible for and to them. This may have sounded strange to him , but then good things start to happen and suddenly you have a huge group of family and friends scattered across the Interweb. This, combined with the relief that comes with the ability to get something instantly off his chest (if his cruise line allows him as Carnival does me ), is what will keep him writing on his Facebook. There are days he will want to quit, I sometimes do. I dream of going cold turkey. But I never do and I am lost in Facebook and my blog which I will be writing again soon and as always I thank you for your friendship, your comments and your readership………………even if a few of you consider me to be the sperm of the devil. I am spending my Friday night with Mum as usual, she is on her own as you know and these evenings mean a lot to her as you can imagine. I will be back with our quick fire questions on Sunday and full time on Monday. Meanwhile someone will send me any requests you post between now and then. Cheers
