In the seventies and eighties, lots of big-signal AM stations had a mix of talk and music during middays, that I miss terribly. And when I say talk, I dont mean right-wing (or left-wing for that matter) politics. They mostly talked about everything BUT politics. It was designed to be inclusive, not to fragment and isolate groups of listeners. In North Carolina, nobody was better at this type of program than H.A. Thompson on WBT in Charlotte. Theres a reason that H was the highest rated midday personality in America for years! Someone be creative, and give me something to listen to, damn it! When H was on, I was afraid to turn the radio off, because I knew if I did, Id miss something great. WHERE IS THAT FEELING TODAY?
