In this bitter cold we’re having, let Benellie’s story warm - TopicsExpress

In this bitter cold we’re having, let Benellie’s story warm your heart. This beautiful merle Great Dane was surrendered on Christmas Eve. Upon intake, she was unbelievably sweet and loving for the amount of pain she’s endured. She is emaciated and lame & swollen in all four legs due to a condition called hypertrophic osteodystrophy. This is a bone disease that often affects large-breed puppies like Great Danes. Although her condition will likely be ongoing and need additional treatment for months or possibly even years, Benellie has secured a foster home and will not be available for adoption for several weeks. While lots of love and well wishes will help Benellie through recovery, it will not provide what she so desperately needs: medical care. Please donate to help fund Benellie’s physical rehabilitation, and to pay for the food and pain relief that she will need during several weeks of foster care. The bottom line is that VHS cannot help animals like Benellie without money. Donations can be made online at vhslifesaver.org. Stop by the shelter during general business hours to drop off a donation. Call (812) 426-2563 to donate via credit card over the phone or text “VHS” to 20222 to donate $10 towards Benellie’s care. (Standard text msg & data rates apply.) Any additional funds raised beyond Benellie’s expenses will help to pay for the care of other animals, such as the 16 dogs that were surrendered to VHS from a hoarding situation just this past week.
