Incapacity and boldness in undertaking the work I do not know my own mind or that of anyone else, then how can I write about the Absolute Existence which nobody can ever know thoroughly? To write about the glories of God is most difficult, one may as well try to enclose the sky with cloth-trappings. I knew, that this was the most venturous undertaking, which might expose me to ridicule. How wondrous is the way the God, Who is the intelligence which activates everything, has activated my mind to apply myself to arranging this work, the rarest of the rare. I do not see myself as the composer of this work but as the recipient of self-revealing eternal truths I have received through a long line of preceptors and disciples. The Lord loves those who write about Him; and the saints also have a peculiar method of their own of getting the service, which the devotees long for, successfully accomplished. The saints inspire the work, the devotee becomes only an indirect cause or instrument to achieve the end. May men of good will encourage the endeavor set out in my words, which have no freedom of their own, but function at the command of the Lord, the witness of all sentient and insentient entities, Who fills the inner beings of all, and with forbearance for the faults and forgiving all mistakes, seeks only the substance of this exalted treatise.
