Incessant rain in Assam submerges many villages: rivers flowing above danger mark Jul 11 In Assam incessant rain in neighboring states and some parts of the state inundated around 120 villages during last 24 hours. Official data revealed that at least 95 villages are reeling under flood waters in Dhemaji district. Several villages are also affected in Chirang and Lakhimpur districts and Majuli Island. Central Water Commission said Brahmaputra, Khowang, Desang, Beki, Jia Bharali and Puthimari rivers are flowing above the danger level at eight places. 33 thousand people have been affected due to flood during last 24 hours. Flood water has also affected more than three thousand hectares of agricultural land. More than 1,000 people have taken shelter at 5 relief camps in Dhemaji district.
