Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Bose said the money belonged to the party and not to them, and were collected through various means like holding special drives, donations, monthly levy from its members etc. These accounts are of the CPM state committee and not of us. A disorganised party like the Trinamool Congress may not be aware of the systematic mechanism of fund collection in the CPM through various means, Bose said as he laid out a detail report on how much money the party collected from different sources. For instance, said Bose, the party collects around Rs 45 lakh as levy from its members every month. Levy, he explained, is a portion of an earning from each member of the party. The amount of levy is specified by the party in its documents. Bose also said that the party has 3,14, 457 members and collects a fee of Rs 2 per from each member every month that this amounts to Rs 6.28 lakh. Money collected through various special drives has been also deposited in the same bank account, he said and added the party also earns from the salary of MLAs/MPs and takes a portion of the pension they get when they cease to be a MLA or MP. There is absolutely no scope for any lack of transparency, he added. He, however, admitted that it was a mistake that the account was in the names of two party leaders, instead of the party.
