Indian Express Press Coverage: HYDERABAD: The Public Health Council of Telangana, in association with the Gandikota Foundation has initiated a training programme to provide job opportunities to unemployed youth in the health and hospitality sector and also to serve the poor and needy. “Today, the health industry is one the most expensive industries in the state. There was a time when doctors looked a patient’s pulse to diagnose them but sadly today they look at the purse,” chairman of the public health council MA Shoeb said and added that it was a matter of concern that present-day doctors focused only on curative measure and not preventive measures. As a part of the first phase of the programme, as many as 1,000 SSC-qualified students will be trained in first aid administration, home nursing, bedside attender and medical tourism. “As per the norms of the ministry of health and family welfare, a person who has passed SSC is more than eligible to provide first-aid services,” Shoeb said. Apart from the afore mentioned services, the association is planning to hold a special programme ‘Senior Citizen Caretaking’, which mainly focuses on taking care of aged persons whose children are abroad. “A lot of children who are working or studying abroad are not in a position to take care of their parents back home. This will serve as a great medium for them to hire any sort of medical help for their parents,” the chairman informed and added that the currently-available services are not trustworthy. “We can, however, ensure full safety as we possess the full details of the person who will be deputed as the medical attendant,” he explained. newindianexpress/states/telangana/Medical-Council-Gandikota-Foundation-Join-Hands/2014/08/10/article2372647.ece
