Indian Mujahideen Bodh Gaya blasts tweet traced to Pakistan Shishir Gupta & Rajesh Ahuja, Hindustan Times New Delhi, July 11, 2013 First Published: 01:43 IST(11/7/2013) | Last Updated: 03:20 IST(11/7/2013) The purported Twitter account of the Indian Mujahideen, through which it claimed responsibility for the Bodh Gaya blasts, was made in Pakistan, counter-terror officers said Wednesday. The Twitter handle, ‘@IndianMujahidin’, had not only claimed responsibility for Sunday’s serial blasts but also warned that Mumbai was next. After the tweet, India contacted US authorities and established that the account was created in Pakistan a few days ago. However, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who visited the shrine on Wednesday, said there seemed to be a local connection too and said the NIA had taken over the blast probe. The profile of the account said ‘Hamara maksad india se badla lena hai. Terriorst network D Company support India (D Company is a reference to Dawood Ibrahim’s gang)’. “As there are only two tweets in the account, and Indian security agencies have not picked up any cross-border intercept to directly link it with Pakistan, it is most likely mischief,” said an investigator. The mention of D Company is another reason investigators believe it to be mischievous. Investigators also said it looked like monks and visitors from Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia were the targets as the 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) exploded between 5.30am and 6am, which is the time they offer prayers. The probe has come to the conclusion that the bomb-makers were not the planters as the IEDs came with labels of places where they were to be placed. “The labelling was done by the fabricators for the planters,” said the investigator. On Wednesday, the probe team approached the court of the chief judicial magistrate in Gaya to dismantle one of the IEDs to check its composition. “It looks like the small cylinders used were cut from the top and around 2kg ammonium nitrate filled into it. There were two protruding wires connected to the hour and minute needles of the clocks used,” said the source. The NIA has announced a reward of R 10 lakh for providing any information on the attack. Home minister Shinde was accompanied by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to the Mahabodhi temple complex on Wednesday.
