India’s political landscape is one of the most diverse in the world and largely peaceful. Where else do right-wing and left-wing ideologies co-exist, without resulting in a civil war (Can the Maoist revolution/uprising be termed a civil war?)? In the just concluded Lok Sabha elections the Left Front alliance won both seats in Tripura. But that was little concession, as the Left registered its lowest seats tally in West Bengal since 1977.
