Injuries knocked both starting quarterbacks out of Thursday nights game between the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns. Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer suffered a right knee injury less than five minutes into Thursdays game and was later ruled out for the rest of the game. Bills quarterback EJ Manuel suffered a right knee injury in the third quarter and his return was doubtful. Hoyer, who had gone from third string to starter and led the Browns to two victories, was hurt when he was hit as he slid by Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso. The impact led to Hoyers legs being caught under him awkwardly. CBS Sports reported that Hoyer will have an MRI on Friday. Former starter Brandon Weeden, who had missed the previous two games with a sprained thumb, replaced Hoyer. On a third-and-8 play, Manuel was pressured and scrambled for a first down, but was hit in his right leg by a Browns defender as he veered out of bounds. Manuel was briefly down on the field, but walked to the bench under his own power. He was later seen jogging on the sideline. Rookie Jeff Tuel replaced Manuel at quarterback. The Bills also lost top receiver Stevie Johnson for the game with a back injury suffered in the second quarter. Johnson had two catches for 19 yards before taking himself out of the game. He had been listed on the injury report as probable with a hamstring injury.
