Insta News One killed, six injured as local train derails near Titwala One person was killed and six injured after five coaches of a local train derailed after getting uncoupled from the rest of the train at Titwala near Kalyan here on Thursday afternoon. The train service between Kalyan and Kasara has come to a grinding halt due to the accident. The reason of the derailment is not yet known. Police sources said that five coaches of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus-bound Kasara local derailed near pole 162/5 between Titwala and Ambivali railway stations on the central line. “The accident took place at 2.50 pm. The coupling of the coaches was broken. Even the tracks at the accident site were found uprooted,” a senior railway police official told The Hindu. The train had left Kasara for CST at 1.32 pm. The Central Railway suspended its services in the Kalyan-Kasara section due to the accident. “It will be restored when the derailed coaches are cleared from the tracks,” a Central Railway spokesperson said. When asked about the possible reasons behind the accident, he said that senior officers who had gone to inspect the site, will send their reports. “Unless they give some inputs, we will not be able to comment on the cause of the accident. The exact cause can be ascertained only after an inquiry,” he added. The authorities have also not been able to give details about the identities of the deceased and the injured. The injured have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Titwala. “They have all sustained simple injuries,” a railway spokesperson said. Titwala is around 60 kilometers away from South Mumbais Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Lakhs of people commute daily on this route for work. The suspension of services is expected to hit all those office-goers commute back home, who stay beyond Kalyan. Railway authorities said that train service from Karjat, Khopoli and Kalyan towards CST remained unaffected.
