Inter-state truck owners meet DC Zbto Interstate Hills Area Truck Owners Association (HATOA) Jorhat-Maraini, HATOA Zunheboto, Tuensang district union president and several other truck owners met Zunheboto deputy commissioner DC Temsu Longkumer at his office chamber here Wednesday. The meeting was with regard to torching of goods Truck December 12 last at Satami-Asuto road junction along the Zunheboto-Aghunato highway and subsequent indefinite “Chaka bandh” imposed jointly by truck, commercial vehicles and mini truck owners association. The stir was temporarily suspended till January 5. At the joint coordination meeting, DC Zunheboto Temsu Longkumer expressed gratitude to the truck and commercial vehicles associations for suspending its “indefinite Chaka Bandh”. He disclosed that two different recommendation letters for ex-gratia has been forwarded to the additional chief secretary, Nagaland and state commissioner’s office December 20 and 22 last. Truck owners association presidents and representatives from Jorhat-Maraini, Tuensang district, Zunheboto district also spoke and highlighted the plights of truck owners and drivers along the interstate commercial highway —Jorhat-Maraini to Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon and Zunheboto districts. SP Zunheboto V Peseyie assured that escorts and security would be made provided to commercial vehicles whenever needed. SP also assured that no stone would be left unturned until perpetrators were brought to book. He said intensive investigation was already underway and sought for sufficient time (at least 90 days) to nab the offenders. At the meeting, it was resolved that escort and security cover would be provided to all the plying commercial vehicles whenever needed; to further press for ex-gratia, which has been forwarded twice; helpline numbers would be circulated to all the goods trucks, vehicle owners and drivers; and intimation letter would be served to all the village councils around the highway vicinity and jurisdiction to enable safe passage, security and joint efforts to curb the highway related crimes on goods vehicles etc.
