Interesting days in Kodaikanal, a quaint hill station to which I have retired to nurse my ailing body back to health (which also partly explains my self inflicted “information fast” and temporary disengagement from FB). I wake up one morning to find my neighbour Adam Khan, a maverick British artist who made Kodai his home thirty years ago plastering our common garden (more like a forest really) with photos of the almighty Amma (Jayalalitha). On being asked why, he snorted: this is the only thing that keeps the damn bisons away! As some of you may know, Kodai is famous of bisons, who having lost their natural habitat, now wander into human settlement all too often. Respect for Amma though! What power! What personality! That a mere image can keep even wild bisons at bay. To borrow Blake’s legendary lines: “Did he smile his work to see? Did he who make the lamb make thee?”
