Interesting thought that just hit me while in my sleep? Maybe I - TopicsExpress

Interesting thought that just hit me while in my sleep? Maybe I should have just stayed asleep. But, whats your thoughts on this. The music you hear on the radio today is dictated by 13 year old girls and horny boys. The demographic the music industry is hitting is 13 - 21 year kids. They are also the ones who are on social networking the most, and they are the ones who trend the most on Twitter. Since the industry seems to only be paying attention to the number of followers each band has, say bands that have 15,000-25,000 fans and followers with consistent trending music... It would seem as though this is who they are following. Perfect example again would be Justin Bieber from YouTube. I call this disposable entertainment. One hit wonders that come and go so the industry can get their fix of cash, push bands to tour to pay back the millions they spent on advertising and make the fans pay hundreds of dollars a ticket to see them. And before anyone jumps down my throat, YES, THERE IS A PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR THIS MUSIC... Is it music that will last for 4 decades? Probably not, but if this is the music thats going to be on an Oldies station... Were screwed.(my opinion) I have people all bent with me, because I continue to use bands like, Van Halen, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Heart, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, etc.. as examples of music that will never stop being played on the radio because it is TIMELESS music. Yet the industry doesnt want that anymore... People will say its outdated music... FINE... Find a band thats modern day rock, Not pop rock, not pop punk, not pop hip hop... Straight up good ol Rock n Roll. Raw, passionate and straight forward Rock. Country, Metal, Rap, Punk, Funk, Blues... Whatever... Bring it back to the raw form. Stop glossing over the music so its so clean you could operate on it. Know what Im saying? Look, When we stop paying such ridiculous prices and demand singers that dont lipsync every song. THEN, well start making a change in the industry. The problem is kids 13-18 dont give a damn, they are being spoonfed ear worms and played the same song 15 times a day until they are brainwashed into thinking this music is good. BUT when you ask anyone what they think of music on the radio today, I would say 85% would tell you new music on the radio sucks. So the next time you listen to the radio for new and upcoming music, thank the 13 year olds. They are dictating what you hear on todays radio... Then again... Its sorta been that way forever hasnt it. Again, it goes back to Musician or Entertainer, who would you rather see?
