Interim Chancellor James Moeser to the Board of Trustees, referring to General Douglas MacArthur: I shall never forget his famous speech to a joint session of Congress after he had just been fired by President Truman, in which he dramatically recited an old West Point Song, Old soldiers never die, they just fade away. Well, I can tell you that old interim chancellors never really leave, they just slowly slip into the background. That’s what I plan to do. I will never really be very far away, and here when needed. I have come to love this place. I am a Pickle.
