International Democracy Day is today. In Kenya, I hear the people asking; 'What Democracy, for what, for whom, by whom'. The elite have totally captured and instrumentalized state and societal institutions including churches, mosques, our ethnic and religious identities for their gain at our expense. Civic education is missing. Civic action is unwell. When your nation is being commandered by political pirates.. This is what you see- tyranny not governance. Our Democracy is ill and people are not thriving but groaning in pain. We have work to do Kenyans! And Zimbabweans, Ugandans, Tanzanians, Rwandans, South Africans, Egyptians, Oh My God even Americans and Europeans! Who will save democracy from merchants of war and profiteers?
