Is stupefied and amused. Just learned that Madonnas favorite scent, the rare Tuberose, is nothing more than our humble Azucena; that the central ingredient of Jean Patous celebrated perfume, Joy (which, by the way, used to be the most expensive perfume in the world), is nothing more than our White Champaca; and that the central ingredient of Chanel *5 is ---ta-daan!--- ylang-ylang. I suddenly remembered the auto-exoticizing hype and hoopla surrounding Yves Saint Laurents bestselling perfume In Love Again, concocted specifically for that Houses 75th anniversary (and originally intended as a limited edition, until insistent public demand made it otherwise). When i finally got to smell In Love Again, i realized that the secret ingredient was guava. As in, bayabas. I guess, this all makes me feel better about my new, cherished EDTs smelling a bit like freshly cut combo of flowered-up suha, damo, and ampalaya :-)
