Isabelle Riou-Teisseire Isabelle lived in Abu Dhabi for 13 years, her entire work is based on the art of watercolor that she practiced since 1982. In 2000, upon her arrival in the Emirates, she started working on canvas. Her painting was then still very water colored. Little by little, a technique sets in: the material takes a greater place. Thus, her palette expanded and her paintings enlarged. Through a constant observation of things, she refined and sharpened her vision. The Cultural Foundation granted her the opportunity to create a watercolor classroom and later an acrylic classroom in Abu Dhabi. “This place of working, sharing and gathering made me love my life in Abu Dhabi. I soon had the opportunity to exhibit in wonderful places, to discover artists from all genres and backgrounds”. Fascinated by drawing, she remains faithful to figurative painting. Her sources of inspiration are highly varied and they also depend on her mood. Isabelle paints camels and teddies. She also juggles between palms, flowers, rusty pottery and old pots, pillows, portraits. “Painting is an endless adventure. Many things inspire me. It seems to me that with time, difficulties increase and get tricky”.
