It actually sparked off from a jibe by a fellow IITian that as a consultant or business advisor, I have been writing fiction all my life. He dismissed my 20-year repertoire of analytical and strategic reports as works of fiction. The challenges in business and the country’s volatile political environment last year helped identify a theme that was very real, here and now. Author Chetan Bhagat and i stayed in the same hostel room in IIT Delhi. Is it mere coincidence that both of us have turned to writing novels? During the research for the book, I came to know that we stayed in the same hostel room, but, obviously, in different years! When the media came to know about this, they talked to the warden, then concluded sensationally that the room might just be haunted by the ghost of a writer that planted the writing bug in two “old boys”
