It always has been, actually. Even during the Obamacare debate, there was any number of Republican proposals. The most significant one at the moment was recently introduced in the House of Representatives by U.S. Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., a doctor who is the lead sponsor of HR 2300. He calls it Empowering Patients First. The basics of the bill are these: It extends tax deductions for health insurance to those who buy as individuals, thus eliminating the perverse incentive that favored employer-purchased insurance. It gives patients true portability by making them the owners of their insurance — not their employers. It gives doctors the real power to make treatment decisions, not insurance companies or the government. It reforms medical liability laws and thus saves money by reducing the practice of defensive medicine. There is a lot I like about this bill and a few things I would do differently. But the point here is not necessarily to argue every minute detail of Rep. Price’s bill. The point is that a Republican member of Congress — who happens to be a physician, by the way — has introduced legislation that would replace Obamacare with something vastly superior to the train wreck we’re facing right now. But you probably haven’t even heard of this bill until now. That’s because the Democrats and their allies in the lapdog mainstream legacy media hide the truth and the real solutions by not talking about them. This is a lie by omission. They claim to cover the issue of healthcare, but they ignore proposed solutions from the very people they criticize for allegedly not having any. If ever it was crucial that we not let them get away with this, it’s now. The mandate delay is a huge opportunity to create a movement to replace Obamacare. The public has never supported Obamacare but now it’s easier than ever to show them just what a disaster it is. We are not stupid, and I have a big and loud mouth! We are going to tell everybody with an ounce of intelligence what the truth about Obamacare is — and the public will get the picture.
