It has been a fairly quiet couple of weeks of racing for Mile 27 - TopicsExpress

It has been a fairly quiet couple of weeks of racing for Mile 27 athletes over the last two weeks but there has still been some great performances. Nick Bradley and Caine Warburton were having a competition to see how many times they could throw up in a race and still finish. Caine was running in Nicks home town of Adelaide in the Yurrebilla Ultra and still managed sub 5 hours and 3rd place. Nick was running in the 38 mile Downslink Ultra in the UK and despite feeling sick all week before the race, and I think winning the throwing up competition, managed to beat his PB by 6 minutes! Karen Summerville didnt have a great day either at the Chester Marathon, battling bad blisters, but dug deep to finish. Tom Bakowksi made up for a virus ruining his Surf Coast Century race with a whopping 44 minute PB at the WTF 80km event in Western Australia in atrocious conditions to take 3rd place. Paul Garske had a solid run at the Mt Portal Running Wild Event in the Blue Mountains. Cathy Duffy would have had a better result at the same event if she didnt get lost and add a few extra ks to the route! Jennifer Carroll took some encouraging first steps to getting back to the athlete she can be with a good run at Yurrebilla Ultra. Rosemary Rhodes put her own ambition to one side and guided a friend of hers to finish the Gower 50 Mile Ultra in Wales. When I say guide, I dont mean simply run with and give encouragement, her friend is blind. Im not sure how either of them do it. Its not a road race, there is plenty of trail and obstacles to be negotiated. The fact they manage it is a credit to them both. Well done to all.
