It is 2 oclock here at Hillstrong/Richmondville, otherwise known as Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, third floor Neuro ICU. From 2-4 everyday the unit shuts down for the brains to rest, the nurses tell us. I thing about when Richmond was a little boy and was naughty and was put in timeout. Our timeout was a chair in the hallway leading to the stairs. He hated that chair! We would tell him to calm down and think about how he had misbehaved. When he had calmed down, he was allowed to rejoin the family and would usually apologize . He also gave up napping when he was about 4. Now because his brain needs rest, he has a timeout-nap. I cant tell if he loves it or hates it. The breathing tube has been removed , so he looks so much better. Yesterday, Luana asked that the people who were shaving him to please shave the rest of his head. Before the shave and haircut, he looked very swarthy. Now he is clean-shaven and buzz cut. I wish that it were for the baseball season. Funny, I remember the RJR baseball team lining up on our porch to get the same bald look for very different reasons than this one. Without the tube in his mouth, he looks like Richmond again. He has not spoken yet, nor completely responded to commands. His eyes seek Luana. Gene and I are poor substitutes for his wife, but that is fine. Please continue to pray for a complete recovery for Richmond.
