It is safe to say that Veganism has saved me. Like many I have - TopicsExpress

It is safe to say that Veganism has saved me. Like many I have struggled with weight my whole life. At my all time high of 235 lbs... I was not only obese but depressed in feeling like my life was never going to change. Feeling that I always needed to obtain the perfect body image I also experienced the other end of the scale with a severe eating disorder where my all time low was 114 lbs. It hasnt been until a year and a half ago when I hit the scales at 235 where I said enough was enough and started on my journey to getting happy and healthy the right way. Now, for the first time in my life I have a BMI of 24 that I healthily obtained by eating RAW vegan and have never felt better in my entire 21 years of living. And for all the skeptics who like to bash on vegans I would like to say yes, there are a handful of vegans that are doing it wrong and are not educating themselves on what they need to consume to obtain the proper nutrients and avoid becoming malnourished...that being said Im not one of them! Being VERY diligent about getting my nutrients/vitamins/minerals just like other vegans, I have been wreaking the benefits! Let me tell you about some of my health improvements: 1. Eczema is completely gone (have had it my whole life, was on Atarax and Desonide steroids prior to get me to stop ripping my legs open at night from being so itchy--it never worked) 2. Havent had an asthma attack or any wheezing/breathing issues since eating vegan (was ordered to be on my nebulizer twice a day for 20 min increments). 3. Just went to the dentist 2 days ago and I had no plaque on my teeth. Had about 10 people in the room asking how I did it and unintwntionally ended up converting my dentist (Also have never had a cavity and still havent had one since eating vegan). 4. I no longer have heart palpitations and am no longer hypertensive (I would pass out or get dizzy from my heart fluttering a few times a day). 5. I can finally run without getting shin splints! I can run long distance now like its nothing. 6. TMI for some: lastly I now have regular daily bowel movements (before Veganism I wouldnt have a bowel movement for almost 3 days at a time). These are just a few things that Veganism has done for me. Oh and did I mention I changed my career!? I am now finishing my BS to be a Registered Dietician and hopefully open my own practice to help people who are in the same situation I was in(if not worse) before changing my lifestyle. Lets face it in 10 years this obesity epidemic in our country is going to get much worse and RDs are going to be needed! Before Veganism I was in school to be a BSN. I realized that I didnt want to be a pharmaceutical advocate and shove medication down peoples throats. I asked myself, why not just change what theyre eating? Why not just give these people nutritional therapy? Why are we intoxicating people willingly!? Needless to say, I finally see the bigger picture.
