It is so different in New England than when it snows in Wisconsin. - TopicsExpress

It is so different in New England than when it snows in Wisconsin. So for my peeps back home that keep asking what the big deal a few feet of snow is, here is the difference.... All the power lines here are above ground. Most of the roads do not have a side lane on them so the trees and the power lines are right up to the actual roads. If your car goes off the road you will slam into one of them. Also, the power companies dont trim trees. So giant dead branches fall on our power lines every time the wind blows or heavy snow gets on them. In spite of being one of the highest taxed states there is no budget for tree trimming in the majority of places. Even if you pay for it yourself and one of your neighbors does not...the lines are still coming down. This translates to the majority of us losing power every time it snows. With so many of us losing power all over the state, it takes that much longer to get power restored when we have a bigger storm. And this is the way we do it every snowstorm. My personal opinion? You would think people this educated would have found a solution by now.
