OK, finally got to print an actual negative with VDB today. Had some interesting times and discovered that with the Revere Platinum paper I had to drop my exposure time from 9 min to 3 1/2! needles to say this thru everything into a frenzy generating a new step chart that I will use for a new gradient map tonight then a reprint again in the morning. Still I like the way this turned out. There is a problem though that I need some help on. If you look above the light on the pier you will see a dark spot. There are other light spots on the image as well and on the back of the print there are dark circles that correspond to each spot on the front. This did not happen to all of the prints today but I cannot figure out what is causing them. after they dried for about 5 min I did stack them and perhaps they picked up enough some emulsion from the one below?!? It was washed in 3 washes then fixed then washed for 30 min. It was printed on Revere Platinum paper coated with 72 drops of VDB (60 drops) with 3 drops of Tween 25% and brushed on, dried for 1/2 hour but stacked with others after 5 min. Also notice the difference in exposure between the left edge and the right. For some reason my light box is putting out different power on each edge but the bulbs go from left to right in respect to the print. More issues... Any ideas? I will try tomorrow as well with a new batch of coated paper to see if I get the same or different results.
