It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to cut my season short. I met with my coach and doctor yesterday to review some blood results to help explain what went wrong at the world Ironman Champs in Kona and why I haven’t been able to recover and train properly these past few weeks. Unfortunately with the heavy load us professional Triathletes put on our bodies the smallest thing can tip the scale. For me kicking my toe on a lava rock helping a guy who crashed his scooter 2.5 weeks before the race in Kona was my tipping point. The infection added too much load to my system fatiguing my pituitary gland which as a result stopped my body producing testosterone. I am really disappointed that I cannot be on the start line to try and defend my title at the@IRONMANAsiapacific #IM703Mandurah this weekend. My wife and I had a great time in Western Aus last year and were looking forward to this adventure. Unfortunately I have also had to withdraw from the inaugural #IM703Ballarat next weekend. These 2 races I hope to be at in 2015 with all guns blazing, but for now my recovery has to come first
