It must be the warm weather its making people act crazy. This week my marked cruiser has been passed several times by people. The most ridiculous however, was recently on my way home. I was on a local state route that allowed passing with a speed limit of 50 mph. Im driving my happy troop butt along happy to finally be heading home when I look in my rear view mirror and see a little rice burner catching up to me pretty quick, then without even hesitating he swerves into the opposing lane passes my vehicle and continues along his merry way. I had to do the whole double take for a moment. I looked down at my center console, confirming I was actually in my police car followed by looking at myself confirming I was in fact in uniform and a policeman. I activate my lights and siren and pull over the offender and as Im walking up to the vehicle I make sure to glance at my patrol car to make sure the decals didnt fall off...Nope, this dummy just blew the doors off of my marked unit. I get up to the passenger side window (I do reverse approach) and its an old blue hair. Me: Mam I stopped you for your speed, did you realize you passed my marked patrol unit? Bluehair: I didnt think you were a cop, I thought you were a drunk. Me: Why would you think that? Bluehair: Because of all that stupid writing all over your car. Me: Ok, then... Drivers re-evaluation completed. (Troop)
