It never ceases to amaze me, how children are drawn to Antania Hawkins/please Be My Voice. I am proud to say that Antania has many cousins & many friends that she never speaks a word to yet they enjoy being together. Kids are all curious but they all react with such compassion that my heart just melts. I have seen children stop in the mall, or on the street & say, Mommy, whats wrong with her? Whats wrong with that little girl? And most parents shush their child. PLEASE PARENTS, DONT SHUSH your child. Let them make an attempt to understand on their level. Ask politely or just say Im not sure but it would be so nice if you said hello to her. The worst thing you can do is stare then pull your child away. You are teaching them to avoid real life. I simply say, This is Antania & she is 9 years old. She has a boo boo on her brain. But she likes the same things you do, like coloring & dancing & having friends. We need to teach our children to learn to interact with special needs children. Don be afraid. It might ignite something amazing in your child.
