It seems HMNZS Wellington wasnt up to the task- I dont understand the Equatorial Guinea issue- the Ross Sea was given by the UK to New Zealand upon the establishment of the Dominion to which the Realm of New Zealand is the heir.. Any vessel trespassing in those national waters unlawfully, notwithstanding the Antarctic Treaty which only governs lawful actions, may be taken using, if needs be, deadly force. Is New Zealand no longer willing to police New Zealand waters? Citizens arrest powers apply to any person under the Queens Peace to arrest those committing indictable offences- which I think this is is under NZ law, ie Sea Shepherd can arrest and has the same right to use force. If needs be a warrant of arrest may be sourced from the NZ Court of Admiralty to seize the ships involved.
