It seems to be no escape from bureaucracy, red tape and unneccesary hierarchy to assert yourself as a professional no matter what industry you get into. The gatekeepers forcing you to jump through hoops is nothing more than a way to protect their own jobs. If you are talented, you should be able to just be a professional, and recognized for it. This is why I choose the underground, the subversive, the un orthodox path. It may take longer and be tougher to do, but in the end it is more rewarding. At least I created my art on my own terms. I refuse to play their game.
