While we all realize this is a very emotionally loaded situation and an extremely difficult time, I would like to ask for everyones cooperation in keeping the focus of the group on the purpose for which it was created--assembling a team of willing volunteers who, WHEN IT IS DEEMED APPROPRIATE, are ready to step up to help the shelter move forward in a positive manner. As a volunteer for the Philly shelter, I can tell you that change takes time even with a solid management team in place. We get frustrated, we want results yesterday, we dont always understand decisions made by staff. Add in the chaos at Helmetta right now and the lack of protocols and procedures for anything, and it is even more frustrating. Please try to keep this group positively focused on change for the future and lets start thinking of ways to continue the forward trend rather than ranting and bashing the people trying to help. It was said in another post that legal issues take time to resolve. Everything has to be documented to the letter or these guys could walk. Let the authorities do their jobs and let us start to develop a plan on how to work WITH the shelter once a proper management team is in place and once there is a need for us. There will but we need to be patient. This mess didn’t happen overnight, it will not be fixed overnight. Lets focus on what strengths each of us has to bring to the table to make this shelter a place to be proud of, one step at a time.
