It turns out the Russian lyre I got yesterday from the girl giving away her music instrument and gear collection is actually a zither and was made in Belarus. Specifically in Russian, it is called a perepolotchka which means little quail (I used Google Translate to look up the Cyrillic characters). Epically difficult tuning situation as the strings tune in pairs around posts with heavy tuning pins opposite the posts, but I am 95% cool with the tuning now. It has an incredibly beautiful resonance.
